This online event will take place on March 9th, 7:30 pm – 9:30 pm GMT. From cooking shows showing us the environmental impact of the food we choose to the booming war on plastic and the social impact of fast fashion, we are all more aware of our impact on the environment. By curbing our consumption and travel plans, the COVID pandemic has forced us all to live more sustainably, and the result is that a vast majority of people now want to embrace sustainability as a way of life.

- What does it practically mean to live sustainably?
- What are the everyday actions that can truly make a difference versus the greenwash claims we can all be victims of?
- And finally, what’s stopping us from embracing the change?
In the first Women in Sustainability Herts event of 2021, we will be discussing the most impactful ways to live sustainably and we will be reflecting upon our own behavior, and what can stop us from adopting the lifestyle we feel is most in line with our values.
Why should you attend?
If you have a sustainable heart but struggle to implement some of the changes in your life, or if you are confused about the wide variety of choices out there and wonder whether they actually make a difference, fret no more. During this two-hour workshop, you’ll learn about the most impactful ways to make a difference in your day-to-day life, but also about the habits and behaviors that might prevent you right now to embrace a more purposeful way of life.
This event will explore strategies that will help to create a more sustainable future. Attendees will also be able to hear from speakers who know how to live sustainably and who are on a mission to help others do the same. There will also be opportunities to network with other women in sustainability.
Panelists
Jen Gale, author of The Sustainable(ish) Living Guide and TEDx speaker. Jen is an ordinary, knackered mum of two whose life changed when she dragged and cajoled the family into a year of buying nothing new. That year changed not only what she buys, but also how she sees her place in the world. Jen recognized the power that we all have as individuals to make a difference to the things we care about, simply through getting informed about the impact of our daily choices and figuring out easy swaps and changes. The family is still (just about) talking to her and they live in Wiltshire where Jen writes and podcasts about all things Sustainable(ish). She is the author of The Sustainable(ish) Living Guide and The Sustainable(ish) Guide to Green Parenting.
Livvy Drake, sustainable sidekick to businesses campaigners and green champions helping to deliver environmental behavior change. Livvy is a behavior change and sustainability consultant who works with businesses, events and green champions to achieve their sustainability goals. She uses the principles of behavioral science to empower campaigners, communicators and businesses to achieve greater behavior change outside of the green echo chamber. She has practical sustainability and behavior change experience spanning events, businesses and non-profit campaigning organizations.
