2021 Renewable Energy Conference: A Leadership Forum on Energy Policy

This virtual forum will take place on June 29 and 30, 2021, it will focus on achieving New York State’s ambitious renewable energy goals. This event will bring together business leaders, environmental experts, and leading voices in the fields of energy, transportation, technology, academia, and government to discuss ways to effectively put New York and its businesses on a path to green energy. It will explore ways that the state can reach goals established in light of the passage of New York State’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act in 2019, which targets 70 percent renewable energy by 2030; full decarbonization of the electric generating sector by 2040; and state-wide net-zero emissions by 2050, among other climate targets.

The aspirational goals established by the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act have set New York on a path to green energy, but they aren’t without significant challenges for businesses and consumers. This year, the conference will focus on the benefits and impacts of these policy changes through panel discussions on the development and deployment of on -and- offshore wind and solar resources, the reduction of emissions in the transportation sector, and an update on the work of the Climate Action Council, as well as utilizing biomass in the State’s energy mix, lessons learned from Texas, and developing a sustainable, green workforce.

Due to COVID-19, this year’s conference will be held via Zoom, but you will still be able to hear from leading voices in the fields of energy, transportation, technology, academia, government policy, and business. The Conference is designed to allow you to learn, meet subject matter experts, and ask questions on issues most important to you.

The keynote speakers include Charles A. Freni, president & CEO, Central Hudson Gas & Electric Corp.; Doreen M. Harris, president and CEO,
NYSERDA; and Basil Seggos, Commissioner, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
