On Thursday, November 7, there was a live Q&A with Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary, UNFCCC, in which she addressed the urgent need for business action at COP19/CMP 9 and in the wider challenge of combating climate change. Here are ten comments she made through Twitter:

1. COP19 is a pivotal moment to both step up and showcase climate action

2. COP19 to highlight strong momentum for climate action outside the formal government process, including through

3. New institutional infrastructure can have transformative impact in achieving a low-emission, climate-resilient world

4. Emission reduction goals under #UNFCCC have already created biz and clean development opportunities – we need more

5. Greatly inspired by the many planned and ongoing #cleantech investments in many countries, above all #renewables

6. Emission reduction goals under #UNFCCC have already created biz and clean development opportunities – we need more

7. Biz need to request further clarity on regulation in order to make further #cleantech investments #C4CBiz

8. Biz of the future which do not take nature into account will not prosper. Entrepreneurship = ecological awareness

9. Coal must immediately reduce its greenhouse gas emissions. Otherwise we cannot stay below max 2 degrees Celsius rise

10. Investors & biz must recognize the opportunities to scale up global investment in clean energy to levels needed
