A study of company reputation reveals that being a leader has a number of benefits. One hundred of the world’s most reputable companies were tracked and almost all of the top 10 have been among the leaders for the last three years. The only new addition to the top 10 for 2014 is Samsung. Apple found its way back into the upper echelons in 2014 after falling out of the top tier in 2013.
These are the findings of the 2014 CSR RepTrak Study, which ranks the world’s 100 most reputable companies.
A comparison of the 2014 and 2013 results shows that not much has changed in terms of the top ten firms.
Walt Disney moved up one spot and Google moved moved up two spots to capture the pole position in 2014. BMW group fell one position, Sony improved by one spot and Canon climbed two spots. Both Daimler and Lego fell two spots while Microsoft fell three spots. Samsung broke the top 10 for the first time.
In addition to ranking corporations, the RepTrak study serves as a business case demonstrating the value of CSR and sustainability. The study shows that firms with better CSR reputations are much better at securing the trust of consumers and getting them to buy their products. Companies that score higher are also better able to generate word of mouth advertising.
